Volleyball Canada – Hiroshima, Japan, October 10, 2019 – Argentina beat Canada 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-20) at the FIVB Men’s World Cup on Thursday.

“This was a difficult match as is evident of the outcome,” said Canada’s coach Dan Lewis. “We could not pressure them on block defense. Argentina is a better offensive team. We must learn from our opponents on how to get better. The players fought and didn’t give up.”

Canada’s Stephen Maar was match top scorer with 15 points; Argentina’s Bruno Lima contributed 14.

Canada’s captain Nicholas Hoag said: “This was a tough game in every part. We were unable to put pressure on them as they executed in all aspects.”

Canada has three wins and four losses so far in the tournament.

Canada now plays the United States on Friday.

The 12 participating teams in the FIVB World Cup compete in a single round-robin competition over 11 match days. Three games are played at each venue each match day.

The World Cup was last held in 2015 – Canada finished seventh overall.
