March 08, 2024: It was a history-making International Women’s Day for a Canadian beach team today!

Fourth-seeded Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes & Brandie Wilkerson defeated number-one ranked Eduarda Santos Lisboa (Duda) and Ana Patricia Ramos of Brazil in the quarterfinals of the Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 event in Doha, Qatar.

Canada took the match in two tight sets 2-0 (21-19, 21-19); beating this top team for the first time in their partnership.

Canada came out of the pool phase with two wins and a loss. The team then defeated another Brazilian duo (Agatha/ Rebecca) in the round of 12 earlier today 2-1 (16-21, 21-17, 15-11).

In Saturday’s semis, Melissa/Brandie face Anastasija Samoilova and Tina Graudina of Latvia, the team they lost to in the preliminaries.
