CAAWS – (Toronto, ON – March 20, 2019) CAAWS is delighted to present the list of 10 organizations and individuals selected to receive a Women in Sport Encouragement (WISE) Fund grant for 2019. Each of the recipients is offering or creating opportunities and programming for girls and women in sport, and CAAWS is proud to support their efforts.

The WISE Fund is awarded annually in the form of 10 grants valued at $1000 each to support professional development or programming. Since 2004, CAAWS has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to organizations and individuals who are taking action to expand women’s participation and leadership in sport in Canada.

This year, CAAWS received applications from every province and territory, representing a wide variety of individuals and programs making a difference for women and girls across the country.

On the 15th anniversary of the WISE Fund, CAAWS is pleased to announce the organization will be scaling up the program next year to create more opportunities for Canadian sport leaders to expand their gender-inclusive programming.

“We are proud to play a small part in reducing one of the key barriers to systemic change for women and girls in sport: access to funding,” said Allison Sandmeyer-Graves, CEO of CAAWS. “We know these initiatives will make a tangible impact in the sport experiences of women and girls across Canada and look forward to expanding our support of these deserving programs.”
