“Bouncing Back” with Destination Data using the Sport Tourism Assessment Template (STAT)

As part of Sport Tourism Canada’s  Bouncing Back campaign for the recovery of the industry segment from COVID-19, all member destinations are being asked to help provide current state inputs for their communities

As your destination begins to look toward a “new normal” and what the future holds for bidding and hosting of sport events, STAT can provide the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force with important baseline information. By identifying where we are today and collecting insights, we can help define just how deep and wide the impacts of COVID-19 are for sport tourism.

STAT is based on the ten-step Sport Tourism Canada Roadmap© which –  helps guide destinations  to be more consistent and successful in building bidding and hosting capacities.

STAT is an online questionnaire with simple Yes/No questions. To answer “Y” to any question, simply ask yourself if it is 100% yes?  If not, the answer is “N”. It should take about 30 minutes and Sport Tourism Canada can provide you with a score summary by section and overall which can help you with planning for the future.

Data from STAT will be kept confidential and the inputs from your community will not be shared. They will be aggregated to show the current state for host destinations of all sizes.

If each STC member host city or destination completes STAT, we will have current, accurate and powerful data from our members to help define the impacts of COVID-19 and what recovery can include.
