Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton –National Team athletes and coaches to lead recruitment camps in Toronto, June 8 and Ottawa on June 9—

CALGARY—Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton will begin a nation-wide search to build its talent pool of athletes leading to Beijing 2022, with a stop in Toronto, June 8, and the Nation’s Capital on June 9.

Coined #Tracking2022 National Team athletes and coaches will help lead athletes in the region, 18 years of age and older, through a series of physical testing drills – from sprints, jumps and throws – in search of the next generation of talent who are #ALLIn.

The Toronto camp will be held at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre on June 8. National Team bobsleigh athlete, Cynthia Appiah, will be on-hand during the athlete warm up which will begin at 12 noon, and for testing that will take place at 1 p.m.

Ottawa-based National Team Athlete, Pat Norton, will attend the Ottawa stop of the nation-wide tour, June 9, at the Louis Riel Dome. Warm-ups begin at 10 a.m. Official testing will take place at 11 a.m.

Both events are open to all athletes in the region for a nominal fee of $20

Some of Canada’s best bobsleigh and skeleton athletes, who have combined to win 13 Olympic medals in the sport’s history, have been recruited from football, track and field, rugby, lacrosse, mountain sports, skiing, volleyball, cycling and rowing.

Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton would like to invite media to attend the recruitment camp in an effort to build a better understanding of the sport of bobsleigh and skeleton, while gaining a greater appreciation of the training and skill necessary for these sliding sport athletes.
