Announcing the Coaching/Support Staff of the 2019 Nova Scotia/Nunavut Legion Track and Field Team

Sport Nova Scotia – Halifax, NS – The Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships are fast approaching.  Cape Breton will be the host of the 2019 National Championships from August 9-11 at Cape Breton University.   Athletes across the province will soon be running, throwing and jumping their way to achieve team standards to be named to the team. The NS/NU Legion Command and Athletics Nova Scotia has been busy compiling the best coaching and support staff possible to help 38 athletes be the best they can be at the Championships this year.

Steve Morley has been selected as head coach for the team, bringing a number of years of Legion experience and is eager for the job. “I was thrilled to be named to the Legion Staff with Nova Scotia for the first time since 1984.  I am excited to continue my involvement with this excellent program.  I hope to see so much pride in our young athletes overflowing the stands in Sydney.  The Legion experience builds friendships that last a lifetime.  They may be 38 individuals when they start out but they will become a team by the time they compete.  I look forward to getting to know all the athletes, coaches, chaperones, parents, legion volunteers, and officials.  Thanks so much to the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Legion command for this tremendous program that you put on for the youth of Nova Scotia, and for hosting the whole country.”

Team Coach – Heather Beaton (Pictou County)

Team Coach – Deelle Hines (Pictou County)
