The third edition of SPOHOX Live lands in Regina later this month, bringing together innovators, and disruptors to reimagine the future of sport hosting in Canada. The boutique gathering – known for its provocative content and interactive design – continues to push boundaries with an all-star program of keynotes, case studies, and curated discussions.
Keynote Highlights
- Lucas Arsenault, professional kiteboarder and national champion from Prince Edward Island, will open the event with his story of resilience and reinvention. Just 18 months after a shark attack changed his life, Arsenault is proving that adversity can spark new paths forward.
- Erika Casupanan, winner of Survivor 41 (Fiji), closes the program. Her approach to risk-taking, alliance-building, and redefining the rules resonates far beyond reality TV, offering lessons for leaders navigating change in sport and tourism.
Power Plays
A new addition to this year’s program, Power Plays are nuggets of wisdom from industry trailblazers who share a big idea, best practice, or disruptive experiment along with their secret sauce and take-aways:
- Brendan Matthews, Canada Snowboard, on bringing snowboarding off the mountain and into city streets.
- Dr. Jen Fry, sports geographer and founder of Coordle, on simplifying team travel logistics through tech.
- Tyler Childs, founder of Tournkey, on ditching analog and embracing digital-first event management.
- Josh Stewart-Van Dusen, Tandem X Visuals, on sparking grassroots energy through Regina’s Good Morning Project.
The Scrum
Interactive roundtable discussions – dubbed the “Spo Ho Scrum”- will put hot topics on the table, from safe sport and legal landmines to the fusion of sport, art, and entertainment to hot trends like cowboy tourism and cyber security. Confirmed topic hosts include leaders from Hockey Canada, Sport Law, Canadian Western Agribition, Huddle Up Group, and the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd.
Experiential Elements
Beyond the sessions, SPOHOX25 Live includes the Skillz Competition & Dinner, blending networking with sport-inspired team challenges, and Spo Ho X Field Trips, behind-the-scenes tours showcasing Regina’s venues and community gems.
Why It Matters
“SPOHOX has evolved into a national community of disruptors, change-makers, and forward-thinkers who are rewriting the playbook for sport hosting in Canada,” says founder and Chief Event Officer Krista Benoit. “From destinations and venues to sport rights-holders and event organizers, our ‘spo ho’ community is building something different.”
SPOHOX25 Live takes place October 29-30, 2025, in Regina, Saskatchewan. The event underscores the growing appetite for fresh approaches, bold conversations, and industry collaboration in Canadian sport tourism.
