MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — A historic Canadian women’s curling championship is making a long-awaited first appearance in the Greater Toronto Area in 2026.
Mississauga will host its debut national curling championship, the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, from Jan. 23-Feb. 1 at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre, it was announced today by Curling Canada.
“With an event as iconic and historic as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, it is getting rarer to have true firsts, so we’re excited to bring this event to Mississauga for the first time. The Canadian Women’s Curling Championship has always been a staple of the Canadian sporting calendar, and we can’t wait to see the energy and enthusiasm that Mississauga and the GTA will bring to the occasion,” said Curling Canada CEO Nolan Thiessen.
The Paramount Fine Foods Centre (PFFC) opened in 1998 and has become a premiere sports and entertainment facility in the GTA. It has recently undergone a significant renovation to enhance attendee experience at the venue, including upgrades to the main entrance, concession counters, private suites, and other areas. In addition to the main arena, the PFFC has three attached ice surfaces and a Sportsplex that includes indoor artificial turf, a triple gymnasium, gymnastics centre, a fitness centre and more. It also offers two outdoor artificial turf fields, one of which is domed seasonally, and is home to several community-based tenants.
The 5,000-seat venue is home to the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League and also to Toronto Rock Lacrosse for its 2024/2025 season. Over its 20-plus years of operation, the facility has hosted numerous high-profile sporting events and artists.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the Scotties Tournament of Hearts to Mississauga for its first-ever stop in the GTA for 2026,” said Mayor Carolyn Parrish. “I want to commend our team at Visit Mississauga for their hard work in establishing our city as a premiere destination for sports, business, and leisure, resulting in this successful bid. I look forward to meeting with these incredible athletes and want to thank Curling Canada for choosing our great city to host.”
It marks the first time a Canadian curling champion will be crowned in Mississauga. The venue hosted curling competitions in 2009 during a Grand Slam of Curling stop and the 2003 Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Curling Championships.
“Our government is delighted that Mississauga has been selected to host the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “I know the city, the venue and organizers will deliver a thrilling tournament as they prepare to welcome the best of Canada’s women curlers, volunteers and spectators – providing substantial economic benefits for the region, boosting local businesses and showcasing Ontario as the destination of choice for major sport events.”
The event also continues a strong partnership between Curling Canada and Kruger Products, Canada’s leading paper manufacturer of Scotties®, Cashmere®, Purex®, SpongeTowels®, and Bonterra™, dating back to 1982 when Regina hosted the first Tournament of Hearts.
“Kruger Products is honoured to celebrate 45 years of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, a significant milestone in our role as the longest-standing supporter of women’s sports in Canada,” said Susan Irving, Chief Marketing Officer at Kruger Products. “We are thrilled that next year’s tournament will be held in Mississauga, bringing together Canada’s top curlers to compete for the title of Team Canada. As the makers of Scotties, Canada’s #1 facial tissue brand, we are proud to continue supporting this event and contributing to the growth of women’s curling across the country.”
Mississauga, Canada’s sixth-largest city, is nestled along the scenic shores of Lake Ontario. This dynamic destination offers a rich blend of cultural, recreational, and natural attractions, providing visitors with a diverse range of experiences to enjoy during the nine-day championship.
“We’re honoured to be the host city for the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts and can’t wait to welcome athletes, fans, and curling enthusiasts to Mississauga,” said Victoria Clarke, CEO of Visit Mississauga. “The Paramount Fine Foods Centre is the perfect spot for an event like this, and we’re excited to see it come alive with world-class curling action. Mississauga has so much to offer—from great restaurants to vibrant cultural experiences—and 2025 is shaping up to be an amazing year for events in our city. We invite everyone to join us for this incredible tournament, cheer on your favourite teams, and explore everything that makes Mississauga such a special place to visit!”
It will mark the 16th time the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship is hosted in the province of Ontario (nine events in Curling Ontario’s Member Association region and seven in the Northern Ontario Curling Association region). The last time a Scotties was held in Curling Ontario’s area was in 2017 at St. Catharines, Ont., an event won by Ottawa’s Team Rachel Homan.
“Having the Scotties Tournament of Hearts come to Mississauga is an incredible opportunity for our curling community. A lot of excitement builds around this event – especially heading into an Olympic year – and we’re confident the host committee will put together a spectacular event for everyone,” said Matt Allen, Executive Director of Curling Ontario.
The first entry into the 2026 Scotties will be decided in the coming weeks, as the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts winner will have the opportunity play as Team Canada in Mississauga.
The 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts presents new opportunities to engage new curling fans in the region.
The Toronto Curling Association (TCA) is committed to fostering an inclusive curling community amongst its 22 membership facilities across the GTA. Through a series of programs and events, the TCA is making curling accessible to individuals of all ages and backgrounds in one of the most diverse regions in Canada.
“Having the Scotties come to the great city of Mississauga for 2026 allows the Toronto Curling Association to expose the wonderful sport of curling at the highest level to our communities to continue our mandate of growing our game at all levels. Expanding the footprint of curling in the GTA will be greatly assisted by the excitement this event will bring. Mississauga is a great host and will provide fans and players alike with an unparalleled experience,” said TCA President and host committee co-chair Sean Holman.
Initial ticket packages will go on sale Feb. 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. ET. For pre-sale opportunities and information on volunteering, fans are encouraged to sign up for Curling Canada’s e-newsletter, Curling Canada Collective, to receive updates.
TSN/RDS2, the official broadcast partner of Curling Canada’s Season of Champions, will televise all of the action from Mississauga.
