BC Rugby is delighted to announce the 2025 BC Rugby Northern & Interior Summer Schedules have been confirmed, with all roads leading to the 2025 BC Rugby Saratoga Cup in Salmon Arm.
The 2025 BC Rugby Northern & Interior Club Leagues is set to provide an exciting summer of Rugby for Men’s and Women’s Club Teams as we approach our biggest season yet,
Kicking off on Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Northern & Interior Summer Club Season is divided across three regions – Central Interior Rugby, the Okanagan Rugby Union and the Kootenays Rugby Union – and features 10 Clubs at the heart of their respective communities.
This season welcomes back the iconic Rucking in the Rockies, Sunfest and the Williams Lake Stampede events.
With fixtures taking place throughout May until July, Clubs will be busy with all eyes focused on the season-ending 2025 BC Rugby Saratoga Cup taking place in Salmon Arm on August 9-10, 2025.
Once again, the Saratoga Cup will be on the line in both Men’s and Women’s competitions, with the stakes higher than ever. As Saratoga Cup hosts, the Yeti Rugby Club will qualify automatically for the event with the remaining three spots on the Men’s side filled by the top team in each region (second-placed team will qualify from Okanagan Region if Yeti Rugby Club finishes top).
The Women’s Saratoga Cup will see numerous teams compete for top honours!
Teams from Prince George RFC, Prince Rupert Seamen, Williams Lake Rustlers and the reigning Men’s and Women’s Champions Terrace Northmen RFC will contest the Central Interior Rugby division, while Vernon RFC, Penticton Harlequins and Salmon Arm Yeti will play out the Okanagan Division.
Rocky Mountain Rogues, who celebrated Men’s Saratoga Cup victories in 2021, 2022 and 2023, will battle it out against Elk Valley RFC and regional newcomers Trail RFC for the Kootenay Cup.
Women’s sides will travel with Men’s teams as these regions continue to see impressive growth in programming.
ABOUT THE NORTHERN & INTERIOR LEAGUES
Contrary to the Island and Lower Mainland Rugby communities, these regions play their Rugby during the summer months on account of the challenging winter weather experienced between Fall and Spring.
The Northern and Interior Leagues showcase incredible enthusiasm and passion for the sport, with Club roots and traditions running deep in these communities. Teams can travel over 10 hours across the province to face their rivals, which perfectly encapsulates the dedication and commitment shown by Clubs and players alike. It’s not just about the battles on the pitch, with great competition extending to who can host the best! From banquets to summer parties, the Northern and Interior Leagues represent a true festival of Rugby each year.
The season culminates with the annual Saratoga Cup event, taking place in the Okanagan Region this rotation on August 9-10, and will feature both Men’s and Women’s competition for the fourth successive year.
This highly-anticipated Saratoga Cup brings together the top Men’s and Women’s teams from across these regions, and remains one of the most enjoyable Rugby weekends in the BC Rugby calendar.
