The full road to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games has been set out as Swimming Canada has posted its national team nomination and selection criteria for 2024.

“We are pleased to release our approved nomination and selection criteria for 2024 following a consultation period and the formal approval from the Swimming Canada Selection Committee. We can now show a clear path to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for our pool swimmers, as well as our open water marathon athletes,” said High Performance Director and National Coach John Atkinson.

The 2024 World Aquatics Championships will take place in Feb. 2024 in Doha, Qatar. The selection criteria for the pool and the open water teams at those championships will draw athletes and coaches from a number of eligible events in 2023. The Fukuoka 2023 World Championships for the pool and open water team (July 2023) will act as the first selection competition for the 2024 worlds. The Canadian Swimming Championships (Aug. 1-6 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre), the Canadian Open Water Festival (Aug. 12 in Welland, Ont.), the World Junior Swimming Championships (Sept. 4-9 in Netanya, Israel) and the Pan American Games (Oct. 21-25 in Santiago, Chile) will also be used for specific priorities within the selection process.

The Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships will be the final opportunity to qualify for the Olympic Games in Marathon Swimming. The trials for the Olympic pool team will take place from the May 13-19, 2024, in Montreal at the Olympic Park.
