154 Youth Volleyball Teams Take the Spotlight at Provincial Cup & Fall Classic Tournaments

TORONRO, ON (November 9, 2023) – The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is hosting its first Convention Centre Event of the season this weekend at the EY Centre in Ottawa. The 2023 Provincial Cup and Fall Classic events will host 154 teams in the 16U and 18U age divisions from across the province in multiple tournaments throughout the weekend.

The OVA is incredibly proud to be able to host these large-scale tournaments as they bring a unique experience to the Ontario volleyball athletes, families, and community. It also prepares them for playing in a large-scale environment like the Ontario Championships.

The event could not be made possible without the generous support of Ottawa Tourism who have been an unbelievable partner in bringing large scale youth volleyball tournaments to Ottawa. The EY Centre has also been a great venue and host to OVA tournaments and is part of the future of large-scale OVA tournaments. As part of a new convention centre tournament model that was initiated in 2022, Ottawa and Niagara Falls are long term host cities for these large convention style events.

The tournament kicks off on November 10th at noon with the Provincial Cup event. This will consist of eight single-day tournaments across the 16U and 18U divisions playing on 24 portable Sport Court systems. All game times, locations and standings for the one-day Provincial Cup events can be found on the online scoring platform TIMU.ca.

The Fall Classic will run November 11th and 12th with the top 24 teams in each of the 16U and 18U girls’ divisions, and the top 18 teams in each of the 16U and 18U boys’ division competing in their own respective two-day tournaments. Each morning kicks off early with 8:30am start times. The full schedule and results will be posted on the Advances Events Systems live scoring website.

This tournament offers more than just a chance to vie for medals; it also presents a golden opportunity for athletes to gain invaluable experience in a large-scale event. This experience will be instrumental in preparing them for the Ontario Championships, where OVA teams will once again make their way back to Ottawa in the upcoming spring.

Mark your calendars for April 25th to 30th, 2024, when the OVA returns to the EY Centre as an integral part of the 2024 Ontario Championships delivery model. During this exciting event, the 6v6 girls, 15U girls, and 15U boys divisions will battle it out for the title of Provincial Champions.

The OVA looks forward to opening its doors to the Athletes, Coaches and everyone in the volleyball community for a few days of the best volleyball this province has to offer. If you’re in the area and want to witness some great volleyball, admission is free!

All information about this tournament, or about the upcoming Ontario Championships, can be found on the Ontario Volleyball Indoor Competitions Convention Centre page of the OVA website.
