TORONTO, ONT. (May 30, 2022) – Canada Basketball announced Monday the 14 players invited to attend training camp at Humber College from May 30-June 8, 2022 ahead of the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022.

The FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship 2022 will be held June 13-19, 2022 at the Obras Sanitarias Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina and fans can catch all the action streaming live on Sportsnet Now.

Head Coach Steve Bauer will lead Canada alongside assistant coaches Tamara Tatham and Marlo Davis, as well as Apprentice Coach/Team Manager, Isabel Ormond

Canada is in Group A along with Mexico (June 13, time TBD), Brazil (June 14, time TBD) and the hosts Argentina (June 15, time TBD).

The top four teams from the FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship will qualify for the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2023.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, this will be the first FIBA U18 Women’s Americas Championship since 2018 when Canada captured silver.

Players selected to attend training camp attended a Canada Basketball Women’s High Performance National Team Age-Group Assessment Camp in March.

Canada is currently ranked 8th overall in the FIBA women’s age-group rankings, presented by Nike.
