Have you ever wondered what the best strategy for weight training is? If your priority is to maximize muscular fitness, periodized training may be a useful tool. Block periodization transitions gradually from training for hypertrophy to training for strength, and finally, for power. Conversely, weekly undulating periodization (WUD) involves cycles of high volume-low intensity and low volume-high intensity periods. In women, WUD may offer some advantages in body composition and strength changes over block periodization.
