Volleyball Canada is a not-for-profit that provides leadership and oversees the development of volleyball in Canada. The Technology Advisor will play a key role in supporting Volleyball Canada’s growth by shaping and driving its IT strategy. This position focuses on designing scalable IT models, aligning technology solutions with organizational priorities, and collaborating with senior leadership to implement cost-effective, future-ready systems. A strategic visionary, the role encompasses oversight of business applications, information management, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity, ensuring they support both current needs and long-term goals.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy

  • Develop and lead the organization’s long-term technology strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and operational efficiency.
  • Lead the digital transformation roadmap, ensuring sustainable infrastructure and tools to support national programs.

Technology Integration & Operations

  • Oversee the integration of digital systems, including LMS, registration platforms, event management tools, and internal communication systems.
  • Lead cross-departmental technology initiatives and ensure alignment with user needs and organizational workflows.
  • Manage all IT service providers and contractors to ensure delivery on time, budget, and quality standards.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with national and provincial data privacy laws, cybersecurity standards, and sector-specific policies (e.g., Safe Sport frameworks, PIPA/PIPEDA).
  • Develop and maintain IT governance frameworks, disaster recovery plans, and cybersecurity policies.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Build and lead a small, agile technology team (internal and/or outsourced), fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to departments in the adoption of new technologies and digital tools.
  • Partner with national and provincial/territorial stakeholders on technology initiatives that support collaborative efforts across jurisdictions.

Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in IT leadership or senior technology roles, ideally in non-profits, sports, or membership-based organizations.
  • Strong background in technology strategy, systems integration, compliance, and enterprise IT operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian data privacy legislation (PIPEDA), cybersecurity standards, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success in leading digital transformation and change management initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills and experience overseeing IT budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

Assets:

  • Experience working in the Canadian sport system or with multi-jurisdictional organizations.
  • Familiarity with sport-specific platforms (e.g., GamePlan, SportLomo, Interpodia, or equivalent).
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Term

This is a Part-time Contract position. Contract duration of 12 months with likelihood of extension.

Salary

Pay range of $95-$115/hr. Please include quote/business rates included in your application.
