Service Description:
The Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) works in conjunction with the other therapists in the Brock Sport Medicine clinic at Canada Games Park, where they work as part of a multi-disciplinary sport medicine team and provide therapy to community, several varsity teams and community athletes/teams.
The RMT promotes the Brock Sport Medicine Clinic with the priority to retain clientele and have effective strategies for client referral.
The RMT will personify the values of Brock Sports & Recreation, exemplifying equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of client care in a safe sport environment.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- The assessment of the soft tissue and joints of the body in the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissue and joints by manipulation to develop maintain rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain.
- Ability to use acupuncture within the scope of practice of massage therapy and as a modality acupuncture can have an effect on the soft tissues and joints of the body and constitutes the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain of the soft tissues and joints find manipulation to develop maintain rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain
- Ability to offer additional billing potential by utilizing a broader scope of assessment and treatment techniques including cupping acupuncture traditional Swedish massage techniques (effleurage, petrissage tapotement, lymphatic drainage)
- Appropriate knowledge of draping techniques to ensure the client’s comfort privacy and safety while providing effective treatment
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Accredited Registered Massage Therapy certificate, certified registered massage therapist
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario
- Minimum of 2 years of related registered massage therapy experience
- Relevant experience using massage therapy with a sporting population
- Certifications in acupuncture/dry needling, STR-Soft Tissue release, Sport Massage (CSMTA)
- Standard First Aid/CPR/AED
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Proven organizational, communication, interpersonal and administrative skills.
- Flexible and responsive to changing needs in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
