About the Role:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Sports Performance, the Physiotherapist is responsible for the effective delivery of physiotherapy services that support Brock students, Faculty, Staff, and the community. The position will assess clients, plan, and carry out individually designed treatment programs to maintain, improve and/or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, and prevent physical dysfunction in clients. The incumbent will personify the values of Brock Sports & Recreation, exemplifying equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of client care in a safe sport environment.
This position includes a guaranteed minimum of 20 hours per week of Varsity coverage, plus up to 24 hours per week of Community Clinic patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. This flexible model supports both professional growth and the Clinic’s commitment to sustainable revenue generation and strategic expansion.
The Physiotherapist will:
- Lead the assessment of clients with who are experiencing impairments, pain, functional limitations, disabilities or other health related conditions that will lead to establishing a diagnosis and ability to monitor change;
- Evaluate the client’s health status as a baseline for the purpose of monitoring or to determine the impact, result or effectiveness of physiotherapy intervention;
- Screen for chronic and secondary conditions to promote prevention and early intervention, utilizing referral network as needed;
- Develop and implement an intervention treatment strategy that addresses the physical prognosis and follow-up required;
- Develop a client maintenance program for the patient to encourage independence with dissemination of knowledge;
- Implement selected interventions safely to relieve pain, achieve and maintain health and fitness, functional independence and physical performance, and manage the identified impairments, disabilities and limits to participation;
- Develop programs that delivers and evaluates in support of health and wellness for individuals, groups and the community;
- Ensure case management load is at the highest standard related to effective planning, directing, organizing and monitoring service delivery;
- Assist in Brock Sports Medicine Varsity team game coverage as required by team schedule;
- Promote Brock Sports Medicine Community Programs to drive new clientele and referrals and provide an effective strategy for client retention.
Please note this position will be required to work outside of regular business hours including evenings and weekends to meet operational needs.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy or equivalent from a recognized university;
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and/or provincial chapter, FCAMPT Levels, and Standard First Aid/CPR/AED;
- Related physiotherapy experience and clinical experience caring for community clientele creating a safe space for treatment and rehabilitation;
- Experience in a Leadership, Manager, or Supervisor role;
- Familiarity with University (USPORTS/OUA) athletic environment;
- Comprehensive knowledge of physiotherapy interventions, practice methods and professional skills;
- Good understanding of the roles of other health care professionals and complementary therapies and knowledge of other community resources;
- Up-to-date knowledge of physiotherapy theories, practices and procedures;
- Understanding of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act;
- Proficient computer skills, including Accuro EMR, MS Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, internet search engines, and web applications;
- Strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse client groups with varying levels of comprehension and language capability;
- Effective listening and advanced oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to think critically, and be innovative to create/modify strategy or intervention techniques to suit the individual needs of clients.
Preferred or Asset Skills:
- Graduate degree;
- Fellows of Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) Manual Therapy Levels;
- Sport Physio Canada (Certificate / Diploma);
- Internationally recognized certification in strength and conditioning (e.g., CSCS, CSCCA, UKSCA, ASCA);
- Acupuncture;
- Concussion Continuing Education courses; and
- Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA), Functional Movement Screen (FMS).
Salary and Total Rewards:
- Job Grade M, target hiring range: $83,715-$85,000 annually (prorated to reflect 20 hours per week) plus $40.25-$45.00 per hour for additional hours worked.
