RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads and facilitate the following BCRPA Approved modules (in-person/online): Fitness Theory, Weight Training, Personal Training and other BCRPA speciality modules;
- Facilitate and review modules (in-person/online) that support the BCRPA speciality modules;
- Facilitate and Proctors (in-person/online): BCRPA exams;
- Facilitate additional and alternate BCRPA renewal modules (in-person/online);
- Develop and implement lesson plans for the Personal Trainer Program and/or any BCRPA modules;
- Ensure a safe and respectful environment for participants and staff;
- Adhere and uphold to College policies, procedures and department processes;
- Report incidents and accidents through established policies, procedures and processes in consultation with the Program Coordinator and Manager, Athletics and Recreation Operations
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Supports the overall operation of the Athletics & Recreation CE Personal Trainer Program and/or other BCRPA approved modules;
- Performs other related duties to support departmental operations, such as participation at CE conferences, and BCRPA events as required;
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED:
- Teacher of Fitness Leaders (TFL) and Supervisor of Fitness Leaders (SFL) certification/completion with the BCRPA;
- Post-secondary education, and/or combination of work/education experience;
- National level Personal Training certification such as BCRPA, Can Fit Pro, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, or comparable;
- Related industry training, certification i.e. holds valid BCRPA Fitness Leader Registration;
- Excellent communication skills with a high proficiency in the English, both written and verbal;
- Proven ability to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, employers and the public in a friendly and efficient manner, both in person and by telephone, together with an ability to exercise tact and communicate appropriately with all persons regardless of background;
- Demonstrated ability to handle high volume, dynamic workloads in a busy public environment, while engaging professionally with students, faculty, employers and other stakeholders;
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail;
- Strong Microsoft 365 knowledge and skills, I.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams;
- Working knowledge of Zoom and/or Blackboard platforms is an asset;
- Experience with community events promotions strategies would be an asset;
- Available to work evenings and weekends per the modules(s) Schedule A’s provided by Program Coordinator;
- Available to work at the New Westminster Campus;
- CPR and First Aid training (automated external defibrillator (AED training is an asset)
