NAKKERTOK IS HIRING A NEW DEVELOPMENT (U14/U16) COACH

The Nakkertok Racing Program (NRP) is seeking to hire a new and enthusiastic full-time member of our professional nordic ski racing coaching staff, whose primary responsibility will be to lead the coaching and management of our racing Development Program (U14 and U16).

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute yearly-training and -racing plans at the program level, individual athlete training/race plans, and specific practice plans for the U14/U16 Development Program, under the direction of the NRP Head Coach.
Lead and/or support the Head Coach in the delivery of weekly training sessions (3-4 sessions per week) for the upwards of 100+ athletes in the U14/U16 program, coordinating with the program’s volunteer and part-time junior development coaches.
Lead and/or support the other professional coaching staff in the planning and on-the-ground delivery of training camps and race trips.
Support the development and delivery of NRP-wide initiatives such as: athlete services (e.g. strength, mental performance, and nutrition programing); equipment procurement and organization; and volunteer coach training and development.
Occasional coaching and coach-development support to Nakkertok’s Learn-to-Ski Program and the NRP’s U10/U12 streams.
Regular communication with the athletes and their parents on all aspects of the program.

Qualifications:

Passionate about nordic ski racing, with experience, enthusiasm and a keen interest in coaching youth to excel and meet their personal goals in the sport.
Agreeing to adhere to all Nakkertok Ski Club and Program policies and procedures.
Demonstrated proficiency in classic and skate nordic skiing.
Working towards Competitive Coaching stream (as per National Coaching Certification Program)
Unrestricted class G driver’s licence (or equivalent)
First Aid Qualification desired
Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
Bilingualism is an asset.

The Nakkertok Ski Club with 75 km of groomed trails and snow-making facilities is located in Cantley, Quebec, less than a 30 minute drive from central Ottawa, Ontario (Canada). Nakkertok’s Racing Program, with over 275 athletes from U10 to university aged, trains at various locations throughout the Ottawa-Gatineau area of Canada’s National Capital Region, and competes in local, Ontario and Quebec provincial, national, and international-level races.  Our successful Racing Program is supported by a professional coaching staff of 4 full-time and one half-time positions that is led by our Head Coach, with part-time junior development coaches, and a very strong volunteer coach and administrative structure.

We are offering a competitive salary with benefits.   The full-time, year-round position starts on May 1, 2025 (with some flexibility on the start date).
