Applications are invited for the position of head coach, women’s basketball in the Athletics and Student Engagement division, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $29,000 to $35,000/annually, for a 20-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
We have a strong athletic scholarship program for our student-athletes and our college administration is very supportive. We’re very proud of the on-court and off-court accomplishments of our teams – this year boasting 49 national scholars.We have a beautiful campus and our gym and fitness centres are excellent. Reporting to the Director, Athletics & Student Engagement, the successful candidate will work within the women’s basketball program. The Niagara College Knights compete in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) and is a member of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develop and implement an annual training and competition program to maximize all opportunities for success in the OCAA/CCAA
Support and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress
Establish a strong basketball recruiting network
Provide appropriate physical and mental training programs
Integrate community programming with the men’s basketball program
Design and run grassroots clinics and camps
Support and act in accordance to the strategic direction and initiatives as they relate to student-athlete support, general promotions, budget management, appropriate administrative responsibilities, and community/alumni relations
Leading the program in accordance to Niagara College, OCAA, and CCAA policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma or similar field of study
Minimum of four (4) years of relevant coaching experience, preferably at the head coach level
“Train to Compete” Certification (or equivalent) or, on the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) pathway
Previous coaching experience in the OCAA/CCAA, Ontario University Athletics (OUA)/USPORT and/or elite club level is considered an asset
