The successful candidate is under the general supervision of the Associate Director, Athletics and ultimately responsible to the Executive Director Athletics and Recreation. The candidate will be highly motivated, display effective and positive leadership, and have superior supervision skills in directing and maintaining a successful and competitive basketball program at SFU.
The role involves providing leadership in the development of the SFU Men’s Basketball program, ensuring that its objectives align with the broader goals of the department. This includes establishing strong and positive relationships with various stakeholders, such as department staff, other university departments and faculties, as well as external groups like clubs, communities, high schools, boosters, and alumni. The position emphasizes providing guidance and support to student-athletes, helping them reach their full potential both academically and athletically. In this role, it is crucial to adhere to the procedures, policies, and best practices set by Simon Fraser University and SFU Athletics and Recreation, ensuring that all actions align with institutional standards. Maintaining the health, safety, integrity, and educational welfare of the student-athletes is imperative. Finally, the individual in this position will assist in the overall development and promotion of the SFU Men’s Basketball program, contributing to its growth and visibility.
