The Right Candidate

  • You have an energetic and motivational coaching style that inspires athletes to perform their best both on and off the mat.
  • You have a proven ability to mentor and develop cheerleaders of all skill levels, fostering confidence, discipline, and teamwork.
  • You have strong time management and event coordination skills,
  • You are highly organized and dependable.
  • Experience working with youth or students in a school or extracurricular setting is considered an asset, ensuring you can effectively connect with athletes and contribute to a positive, supportive environment.

The Role

  • Plan and lead practices for competitive cheerleading teams.
  • Provide technical instruction in Level 3+ tumbling, stunts, jumps, motions, and overall cheer performance.
  • Design and execute safe, progressive tumbling drills for all skill levels.
  • Prepare teams for competitions, exhibitions, and performances.
  • Travel with team to Competitions!
  • Track athletes’ skill progression and create individual development plans.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment.
  • Ensure all safety guidelines and spotting techniques are strictly followed.
  • Mentor athletes on sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence-building.

Required Skills / Certifications (vary depending on role)

  • Level 3 + Coaching
  • Experience coaching cheerleading and/or tumbling at a competitive or rec level
  • Strong knowledge of progressions, and safety practices.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Vulnerable Sector Check
  • First Aid Certification – CPR C
  • NCCP Number
  • Safe Sport Certification
  • Making Ethical Decisions Certification
  • Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Certification
  • Rule of Two Certification
  • Making Headway Concussion Coach Certification
  • OCF Coach Membership
  • Ability to work flexible evenings and weekends as required.
  • Ability to travel as required for competitions, as necessary.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Ability to commute/relocate: Kanata, ON K2M 1C9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience: Cheer / Gymnastics : 3 years (required)

License/Certification: Level 3 Certification (required)

Willingness to travel: 25% (preferred)
