About the Canadian Ski Council

The Canadian Ski Council (CSC) is a national non-profit dedicated to promoting participation in recreational snow sports across Canada. We work collaboratively with ski areas, industry partners, and government organizations to inspire more Canadians to hit the slopes.

Position: Operations Director – Band 3

Reporting directly to the President and CEO, the Director of Operations is a pivotal leadership role within the CSC, responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of our skier development programs and revenue-generating operations.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage multi-faceted programs, and ensure the delivery of impactful experiences that engage new and returning snow sport enthusiasts. If you are an experienced operations leader with a passion for skiing or snowboarding, this could be the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

Program Strategy & Oversight

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for all CSC programs:
    Go Skiing Go Snowboarding, Snow Start Kids Pass, Never Ever Days, Canadian Lift Pass
  • Develop operational goals, timelines, revenue forecasts, and budgets.
  • Leverage technology platforms (Zendesk, Salesforce, etc.) to support program delivery and customer service.
  • Drive marketing and customer communication strategies to maximize participation.

Team Leadership & Execution

  • Oversee CSC’s operational team including the Contact Centre Supervisor, System Analyst, and seasonal staff.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, clarity, and performance excellence.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with ski areas and external stakeholders.

Financial Oversight & Reporting

  • Create and manage program budgets and revenue targets.
  • Conduct seasonal reconciliations and performance analysis.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership and CSC committees.

Industry Engagement & Continuous Improvement

  • Represent CSC at trade shows, events, and conferences.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technology to enhance programs and operations.
  • Foster collaboration and feedback with ski area partners across Canada.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations or program management, ideally within the ski or snow sport industry.
  • Proven leadership managing in-person and virtual teams.
  • Budgeting and financial reporting experience required.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with customer service platforms like Zendesk or Salesforce is an asset.
  • Familiarity with contact centre operations is a bonus.

Other Assets

  • Bilingualism in French is considered an asset.
  • Understanding of HR principles and people management.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily remote with some in-person meetings and travel to industry events. A location near Collingwood Ontario is preffered.
  • Occasional outdoor work in winter or summer seasons.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. for program materials when needed.
