Canada Artistic Swimming Board of Directors Call for Nominations

The outstanding success of Canada’s national artistic swimming teams stem from a solid membership base and the quality programming offered by Canada Artistic Swimming (CAS), the governing body of the sport in Canada.

CAS is looking for interested, qualified candidates to join its Board and help lead the organization.

The Board meets approximately once a month, and as required. The meetings are held by videoconference. At its annual meeting, on September 13, 2025, CAS voting members will elect 2 Directors at-large + 1 athlete director, each to serve a 3-year term.

NOMINATIONS

Persons interested in joining the CAS Board should provide a brief curriculum vitae  (email to CAS CEO Steve Wallace, steve@artisticswimming.ca) and complete the nomination form at the following link: https://forms.gle/tZXwxAf5LBSQCZXH8

Following consultation with the Board and other stakeholders, the Nominating Committee welcomes nominations from those who can strengthen CAS’s representation in areas of skills and expertise related to: Board of Directors and other leadership experience, strong communication and conflict management skills, and experience with strategic planning and focus.

Throughout our process we will place particular priority on candidates with skills and experience experience in the following areas:

  • Human Resources – Understanding of human resource considerations and issues for executive recruitment, compensation structures and performance review among public sector, private sector or not-for-profit boards.
  • Marketing / Communication – Experience in the action or business of promoting and selling products, services and programs, branding strategies, market research and/or advertising, and media affairs.
  • Sponsorship – Attracting sponsors and funding opportunities.

CAS is committed to building a skilled, diverse Board reflective of Canadian society and of our sport community.  All qualified nominees will receive consideration for election without regard to race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, or disability. Accommodations will be made on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the nominating process.

CAS bylaws impose geographical conditions on the composition of the Board of Directors, with exceptions to support diversity of the Board. For questions regarding eligibility, please contact CAS Nominating Committee Chair Lindsay Duncan lindsay.duncan@mcgill.ca or CAS CEO Steve Wallace steve@artisticswimming.ca.

This application (not the contact information page) will be shared with the voting delegates prior to the Annual Meeting.

PROCESS

The Nominating Committee will screen all nominations received to ensure that they meet the minimum qualifications required by law for a director (an individual, at least 18 years of age, with capacity, and not bankrupt).

Nominations will then be reviewed and evaluated against the skills, expertise, and diversity as provided for above. The Nominating Committee will interview selected candidates and finally make a list of recommended candidates to provide to the Members in advance of the Annual Meeting.

ALL NOMINATION/APPLICATION FORMS ARE DUE TO THE CANADA ARTISTIC SWIMMING NATIONAL OFFICE (ATTENTION CEO: steve@artisticswimming.ca) NO LATER THAN JULY 4, 2025, 17:00 ET.

Note: Thank you very much for your interest and application.  Only those nominees/ applicants who are selected will be contacted for an interview.
