Following Sport for Life’s nationwide Impacts of COVID-19 on Local Sports Organizations survey, this session will explore the implications of the national results on the community sport sector. National survey results revealed the majority of sports organizations are collaborating with others in the sector, though there is growing concern on the longer-term effects of COVID-19. Some expressed COVID-19 may prompt the sector to rethink how “to provide opportunities for youth to play sport and develop through their participation in sports.”

Panelists Catriona Le May Doan, CEO, Sport Calgary; Dom Butcher, Coach, Lower Island Soccer Association; Marcia Morris, Executive Director, Ottawa Sport Council; and Richard Way, CEO, Sport for Life, will provide their perspective initiating discussion among those in the sector on what this may mean for community sport, and what could be done by all parties involved to address the challenges being faced.
