Presenters
Nicole Beauregard
As the Director of Recreation and Community Services for the City of Prince Rupert, Nicole is passionate about physical literacy across the lifespan and the role of municipal government in local leadership and collective impact. Nicole has a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Health Promotion. In 2023, at the International Physical Literacy Conference in New York, Nicole co-emceeded this event and participated on the Sport for Life leadership team to review the conference abstract submissions. This conference welcomed over 200 delegates from around the world. Nicole participated on a panel presentation on how to activate physical literacy in communities by sharing highlights of community best practices from five different communities where she was the lead consultant. She also hosted a snapshot session that showcased a workshop and programming framework to support enhanced mobility in older adults. This framework has been used in Kamloops and recently activated in Prince Rupert with community partners. Now, Nicole is working with a local neighbouring Indigenous community, Lax Kw’alaams, to support Enhanced Mobility for Elders.
Natalie Philippe
Natalie is a Public Health Nurse with Public Health Sudbury & Districts, dedicated to enhancing physical literacy across health, education, recreation, and sport in collaboration with Active Sudbury. With over 18 years of experience in physical activity promotion, she believes physical literacy is the vehicle that leads to lifelong movement and health. An innovative and lifelong learner, Natalie has completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a diploma in Physical Fitness and Nutrition, and graduate studies in Sociology. Throughout her career, she has worked at local, regional, provincial, and federal levels to advocate for and raise awareness about the critical importance of fostering physical literacy in children and youth.
Cindy Levesque
Cindy holds a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences and began her career as a Physical Literacy Consultant at Sport NB, where she focused on raising awareness about the concept of physical literacy in the province. She emphasized the importance of integrating physical literacy into programs across recreation, early childhood, sport, and education sectors.
In her current role as a Sport and Recreation Consultant with the Government of New Brunswick, Cindy supports these sectors in adopting best practices to enhance physical literacy, ultimately fostering a lifelong pursuit of physical activity and well-being. Cindy has also earned a certificate of completion from the Sport for Life Leader School, a former initiative recognizing leadership skills in sport and physical literacy. She collaborates with organizations by delivering talks and workshops on physical literacy in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and mentoring physical literacy enthusiasts and leaders in France.
Beyond her consulting work, Cindy is a dedicated mother of two children under the age of four. She was the inaugural instructor of two pioneering physical literacy courses at the University of New Brunswick and actively engages with her community as a member of multiple boards of directors. Her passion, commitment, and infectious energy inspire those around her.
