April 4, 2024 3:00 PM EDT
|

Join us Thurs April 4th 12-1:30pm PT for Athletes, Activists, and Advocates, part 5 of a special focus on sport leadership and cultural integrity. As we confront issues of violence, maltreatment, discrimination, and corruption in sport, participants from across sport (athletes, parents, officials, administrators, politicians) are linking arms to advocate for change. This month in Sport, Leadership and Social Changewebinar series, Dr. Jennifer Walinga hosts part 5 of a suite of episodes examining sport culture – the communication of our values through structures, behaviours and practice.

Join Dr. Walinga as she welcomes guests from a variety of sports and perspectives to discuss their advocacy and activism work, the levers for change, and what we can all do as leaders in sport to foster safer, healthier, more ethical, and ultimately more successful sport experiences.

Jen will be speaking with Carolyn Trono OLY Rower and retired Director of Quality Sport Development with Sport for Life, Cath Bishop OLY Rower and author of The Long Win, writer for The Guardian, and advisor on the Oversight Board of British Gymnastics, Katrina Monton PAG Water Polo, PhD candidate in organizational psychology and claimant in the Water Polo Canada maltreatment case, and Kim Shore one of the initial witnesses to the 2 Parliamentary Standing Committees on the Status of Women and Girls in Sport, and co-founder of the first survivor-led advocacy organization for Canadian gymnasts after over 700 gymnasts signed an open letter to the Canadian Government declaring they were abused in sport.

We encourage you to register even if you are unable to attend. Everyone who registers will receive a link to the webinar recording. We can’t wait to see you there!
