Ottawa Sport Summit

The Ottawa Sport Council (OSC) is pleased to announce its seventh annual Sport Summit, Strategic Planning – Future Proofing your Organization on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Nepean Sailing Club.

In entrepreneurial circles, there’s a well-known book entitled “E-myth Revisited” by Michael Gerber in which a startling statistic is shared. Of the roughly one million new businesses that open in the United States every year, only 4% of those businesses make it to year ten.

According to Michael Gerber’s research, successful companies and organizations that make it to year ten have something in common – they dedicate the appropriate amount of time working ON the business vs. working IN the business. When you are working ON the business, you are strategically planning for the future, when you are working IN the business, you are tactically responding to the daily issues.

We invite you to join us for our sport summit, Strategic Planning – Future Proofing your Organization on Saturday April 13 where we will work ON the business and guide you through the development of your strategic plan.

Facilitated by local business leader Julien LeBlanc, and sports broadcaster and communications expert Ian Mendes, this year’s Sport Summit will use a workshop format to allow participants to answer the following key questions:

  • What are your winning aspirations?
  • Where will you play?
  • How will you succeed?
  • What capabilities must be in place?
  • What management systems are required?

As always, one of the Sport Summit’s goals will be to create dialogue between attendees. In addition to creating your Strategic Plan, you’ll have the chance to collaborate with peers and learn from the experiences of others.

Registration

The goal of the workshop is for each organization to develop and leave with their own strategic plan. As such, our recommendation is for organizations to attend with up to 3 representatives (board members, staff, key volunteers) to ensure they capitalize on the learnings of the day. Please register each member of the organization separately.

This is a free event. We do request that ALL members of a participating organization consider making a minimum $30 donation to the Ottawa Sport Council Foundation. The Ottawa Sport Council Foundation has been created to provide sporting organizations with grants to improve inclusion in sport. Tax receipts will be provided.
