Building a Safe Sport Culture at the Club & Community Level

Sport for Life will be hosting a webinar at the beginning of October titled “Building a Safe Sport Culture at the Club & Community Level”. With the focus being on community and club level sport culture, this webinar will build on the emerging research in safe sport and will explore safe sport practices at the club and community level. We are hoping you may share this with your networks as we aim to reach as many stakeholders involved at this level. Please the supporting documents attached and the webinar details below:

Panelists:

Alison Doherty, PhD, is a Professor of Sport Management in the School of Kinesiology at Western University, where she is also the Lead of the Sport and Social Impact Research Group (SSIRG). Her research focuses on safe and inclusive sport and physical activity, particularly at the community level. Alison was a member of Team Canada in the sport of Athletics in the 1980s, and has coached with the Western Mustang Track & Field Team for over 30 years.

Matt Thomas, brings extensive experience within the game and an excellent knowledge of the soccer landscape in Canada. He has previously worked with professional clubs in Europe and since landing in Canada has worked for the British Columbia, Manitoba and Alberta Provincial Association. Matt is a Canada Soccer Master Coach Developer for Canada Soccer and has his UEFA A, USSF A. He also has Director of Coaching and National Youth License from the US Soccer Federation. Matt is currently working as an Accountability Coach Nation wide and globally.
