On September 8th at 11am PT/2pm ET #BridgesofBelonging conversation number fourteen will feature Team USA Paralympian Scout Bassett and Liberty Co founder Wander Deschamps.

Scout was born in Nanjing, China and at the age of one and a half, lost her right leg in a chemical fire. She was left on the streets of Nanjing before being taken to the Nanjing children’s welfare institute where she spent the
next seven years suffering from malnutrition, isolation and physical abuse. At the age of seven, she was adopted by a family from Michigan and left  Nanjing for the US. Once here, Scout began to look to sports as a medium to cross social and cultural barriers. In 2016, Scout worked her way to qualify for her first U.S. Paralympic Team, placing 5th in the 100m. Scout is also a 3 x World Championship medalist in Para Triathlon and Gold Medalist at the 2019 Parapan American Games in the long jump. Now, she is training for the podium in Tokyo 2020!

Wanda is founder and principal of Liberty Co., a consultancy working to advance meaningful societal causes through forming organizational and individual partnership. A champion for inclusivity, with a special focus on gender equity and neurodiversity she is the co-founder of the (virtual)  National Day of Conversation about Sexual Harassment in the Charitable Sector and catalyst behind the #women4women collective. She enjoys writing under the banner of the Inclusion Revolution, a worldwide movement launched in 2018 to spearhead broader thinking about disability. Her ultimate goal is to bring members of the neurodiverse population into fuller participation in the workforce.
