Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is committed to doing better. #WeWillDoBetter is a new awareness campaign that supports the anti-racism movement by increasing awareness about systemic racism in Canada. Our role as historical storytellers means we have a platform and obligation to amplify Black voices and share the lived experiences of Black Hall of Famers.
In partnership with TSN, beginning today, and continuing through the New Year, we will be sharing vignettes (curated mini-documentaries) about Black Hall of Famers, beginning with Damon Allen (above).
The first eight vignettes feature the following Hall of Famers:

  • Damon Allen – Football
  • Herb Carnegie – Ice Hockey
  • Michael “Pinball” Clemons – Football
  • Phil Edwards – Athletics
  • Ferguson “Fergie” Jenkins – Baseball
  • Harry Jerome – Athletics
  • George Reed – Football
  • Willie O’Ree – Ice Hockey

Each episode will be featured on our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter), and live on sportshall.ca/campagins/wewilldobetter.
We believe that education leads to discussion, discussion leads to conversation, and conversation leads to change. We hope that #WeWillDoBetter will help to raise awareness and understanding of this extremely important issue and ultimately, create change to end racism in our country.
