Ontario Soccer – Registration deadline for 2019 Ontario Futsal Cup is Jan. 16

The 2019 Ontario Futsal Cup dates and locations have been finalized. 

Registration is now open for teams in the Men’s, Women’s and Youth divisions. 

The deadline for entry for all divisions is Jan. 16, 2019.

Jan. 10 is deadline for 2019 Ontario Cup tournament host applications

The dates for the 2019 Ontario Cup have been posted on the website. 

Additionally, updates on the 2019 tournament format and applications to host tournament rounds are now available. 

The deadline for clubs to submit an application to host a tournament round is Jan. 10, 2019.

Level 1 Discipline and Appeals Certification Courses 

Ontario Soccer offers a fully updated and compliant Level 1 Discipline and Appeals Certification Course and is taking bookings for District Associations and applicable Leagues looking to host a course for their membership in 2019. 

The course is one day and led by an Ontario Soccer appointed instructor.

2019 ORA Applications are now available 

Ontario Soccer is now accepting applications for the 2019 Ontario Recognized Academy (ORA) program. 

The ORA program is a standards-based designation for private academies within Ontario, who demonstrate an ability to meet technical and administrative standards set by Ontario Soccer.

Ontario Soccer announces selections for 2019 Provincial Projects

Ontario Soccer is pleased to announce the selections for the 2019 Provincial Projects. 

The Provincial Program is available to all Ontario Soccer registered players who are competing at a U14, U15 or U16 age group. 

The Provincial Program focuses on player screening, talent identification and benchmarking of players through competition.

9 Ontario athletes receive nominations for 2018 Concacaf Awards

The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association (Concacaf) recently announced the nominees and the opening of fan voting for the annual Concacaf Awards, to honour this year’s standout performers and achievements from across Concacaf events. 

Nine Ontario athletes, including two Ontario REX program players, have been nominated for awards in their various roles in the game.

Ajax’s Derek Cornelius named Canada Soccer Youth International Player of the Year

Ajax’s Derek Cornelius has been named the 2018 Canadian Youth International Player of the Year. 

Cornelius was a standout for Canada at the International espoirs Provence Toulon tournament in May and June and were undefeated with the centre-back in the lineup.

Ontario athletes win Canadian Futsal and Para Soccer Athlete of the Year awards

Jacob Orellana has been named Canadian Futsal Player of the Year and Damien Wojtiw has been named Canadian Para Soccer Player of the Year as part of the 2018 Canada Soccer Player of the Year awards. 

The two first-time winners have been recognized for their excellence at the international level in their respective sports.

Canadian Premier League acquires Ontario Soccer’s League1 Ontario 

The Canadian Premier League is pleased to announce the addition of Ontario Soccer’s League1 Ontario to its operations. 

The move creates a deeper association between Ontario Soccer and the Canadian Premier League and the new structure puts a focus on young soccer players in the largest provincial association in Canada. 

Starting in 2019, this ground-breaking arrangement will allow the Canadian Premier League, in its entirety, to facilitate the continuing development and growth of League1 Ontario.

Ontario Soccer membership elects new Board of Directors 

Ontario Soccer has elected a new Board of Directors and with it put the final touches on a new, modernized governance structure. 

Under the new governance structure, the business of Ontario Soccer will now be conducted by a Board of Directors, composed of 12 elected individuals and one senior staff. Previously the board had been made up of 21 representatives from each District Association as well as an elected executive.
