St. George’s School is a premier independent school for boys in Vancouver, committed to character, leadership, and excellence across academics and athletics. Our rowing program, based at the John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse, serves Grades 8 through 12 and is recognized as a model of competitive, community-based programming.
Our athletes have multiple pathways—from Novice to Junior A—with structured training (up to 6 sessions per week) and a competitive calendar including local, regional, and national regattas such as the CSSRA National Championships in Ontario. The program features “Beat the Beast,” a prestigious winter indoor rowing event that draws hundreds from across British Columbia and showcases both endurance and team spirit.
We take pride in an alumni legacy of success—graduates have gone on to compete in Under-19, Under-23, World Cups, and even Olympic-level rowing.
The Head of Rowing leads the vision, execution, and growth of a high performance, multi-level rowing program. You’ll manage a full-time assistant coach, a rowing coordinator, and a vibrant team of part-time coaches and alumni mentors. This position requires regular presence at both St. George’s School in Vancouver and the UBC Lecky Boathouse in Richmond, with reliable transportation between the two locations (you’ll receive a car allowance stipend for driving).
In order to provide the best possible learning environment for our diverse, multicultural student population, St. George’s actively seeks to recruit staff from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in independent and international schools. BIPoC and 2SLGBTQIA+ people and those with disabilities are warmly encouraged to apply, and invited to reach out for more information about our commitment to diversity, inclusion and belonging.
