Position Overview
Volleyball Canada is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented, and passionate Director, Fund Development to initiate the development and execution of philanthropic strategies and initiatives aimed at driving revenue and advancing the organization’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the CEO and COO, this role will focus on building a strategy and delivery framework for donor engagement, annual giving, sponsorship support, and special campaigns to grow Volleyball Canada’s philanthropic footprint.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Campaign Support
- Based on organizations strategic priorities, develop a comprehensive philanthropic strategy plan to drive Volleyball Canada’s fundraising and donor campaign capabilities.
- Development, planning and execution of annual giving campaigns, donor appeals, and targeted fundraising initiatives.
- Coordinate fundraising efforts around key events (e.g., national championships, international tournaments, Olympic & Paralympic campaigns).
- Create frameworks and delivery for major gift cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Collaborate with the marketing and events teams to integrate fundraising opportunities and donor services into Volleyball Canada’s events and communications.
Prospect Research & Grant Support
- Identify and research prospective donors, corporate partners, and grant opportunities.
- Provide comprehensive plan around these prospective support mechanisms.
Assessment & Reporting
- Provide detailed assessment of Volleyball Canada’s current fundraising and philanthropic initiatives
- Provide a strategic assessment and report including professional advice and a multi year plan on how to approach philanthropic initiatives that aligns with Volleyball Canada’s overall strategic plan.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, business, nonprofit management, or related field.
- Designation in Fundraising is considered an asset (CFRE)
- Extensive experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development (experience in sport organizations is an asset).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent report writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools (e.g., Mailchimp, Canva, social media platforms).
- A passion for sport, community engagement, and philanthropy.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
Term
This is a Full-time position.
Compensation
The salary band for this position is 75-105K based on experience and qualification.
