June 30, 2025(Halifax, NS) – Sport Nova Scotia is proud to announce the Cleve’s Source for Sports June Impact Award recipients are Georgia and Antonia Lewin-LaFrance (Female Athlete) and Samuel McConkey (Male Athlete).
Female Athlete: Georgia and Antonia Lewin-LaFrance, Sailing
Achievements: Georgia and Antonia won the gold medal at the European 49erFX Championships in Greece earlier this month. Having competed at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, this was the sisters’ first international win as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Male Athlete: Samuel McConkey, Powerlifting
Achievements: This past September Sam earned national gold for powerlifting in the sub-junior 66Kg weight class. Then in February Sam earned another national gold for powerlifting in the sub-junior 59Kg weight class. Sam will be competing in the World Powerlifting Sub-Junior Competition in Costa Rica this August 2025.
Over the past two years Sam has earned more than eight Nova Scotia provincial records between squat, deadlift, bench and totals. This self-trained athlete just turned 17 and battles with type 1 diabetes as well as Addison’s Disease.
