MONTREAL (June 25, 2025) – The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is pleased to announce the appointment of veteran broadcaster Vanessa Lee as its new Director, Communications and Media Relations.
“Sport has a unique ability to bring Canadians together, and I’m looking forward to contributing to a movement that fosters national pride, inspires excellence, and builds lasting connections across borders,” said Lee, who will report to Andrew Baker, Chief External Affairs Officer. “I’m honoured to be joining Team Canada and am excited to help tell the remarkable stories of Canadian athletes as they prepare to shine on the world’s biggest stage.”
Born in Sept-Îles, Que., and raised in Saskatoon, Lee is fluently bilingual in English and French and speaks conversational Mandarin. She brings more than 20 years of experience in Canadian media, having worked for all three national television broadcasters—Global, CTV, and CBC. Lee spent a decade as a correspondent for CTV National News and was on the ground for major stories from B.C. wildfires to Pope Francis’ historic visit. She also reported from the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games and worked with Olympic Broadcasting Services at Paris 2024 during both the Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games, covering men’s and women’s basketball and wheelchair basketball.
“Vanessa’s knowledge of the Canadian media landscape and her passion for Olympic sport make her a natural fit for this role at the COC,” said David Shoemaker, COC Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General. “Between her professionalism and track record of exemplary storytelling, Vanessa is a tremendous addition to our team and a strong ally for the Canadian sport system.”
Lee resides in Pointe-Claire, Que. with her husband and two children where she is involved in the local swim community. She will work out of the COC’s Montreal office.
