The Okanagan Hockey Academy is seeking a full-time Certified Athletic Therapist to join our team of athletic therapists and strength coaches. The successful candidate will become part of a world class hockey development program that believes in a commitment to excellence in all areas of the athletes’ on and off ice training.

OHA Background

The Okanagan Hockey Academy is a division of Okanagan Hockey Group Ltd which is the longest and oldest running hockey school in the world. Located in Penticton, British Columbia, we have provided professional hockey instruction since 1963.  We have a state-of-the-art facility to provide a unique development opportunity for each of our student athletes. The Okanagan Hockey Academy is a prep school environment which consists of 7 teams that include both male and female programs. Scope of Work:

Reporting to the Head Athletic Therapist, the Athletic Therapist will be responsible for player injury assessment and management, rehabilitation, return to sport conditioning and game coverage. The successful candidate will also be required to assist with equipment management, skate sharpening, laundry, and driving OHA vehicles to transport players as required. The Athletic Therapist must have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, team player and must be flexible and adapt quickly to change.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Graduated from an accredited institute of Athletic Therapy
  • CATA Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing
  • Valid First Responder and BLS Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the field of strength and conditioning considered and asset
  • Good analytical and trouble shooting skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Class 4 driver’s licence and a current driver’s abstract required at time of employment
  • Criminal record check and vulnerable persons check
  • Hockey Canada Safety Person, Respect in Sport, Concussion Awareness Training Tool online courses (can be completed at time of hire)
  • Hockey experience and/or team training experience is preferred
  • Experience with skate sharpening is an asset
