Winnipeg, Manitoba – The Manitoba Soccer Association (MSA) is pleased to announce Ella Santarsieri, a 17-year-old athlete from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been selected to participate in a Women’s Futsal National Team Camp in Montreal, QC from March 27-30, 2025. Santarsieri recently participated in and won the Women’s Futsal Provincial Championships with her club, 1v1 Futbol Dreams. She and her club will be representing Manitoba at the Futsal National Championships in Regina in early April. Santarsieri has also recently committed to the University of British Columbia to play soccer.
The Women’s Futsal National Team has identified 28 players who will take part in the Montreal Camp. The objective of the camp is to identify the top 25 players that will be long listed for the Concacaf Women’s Futsal Championships. A final roster of 14 players will then be selected from the long list to participate in the Concacaf Championships in Guatemala from April 29 to May 4, 2025.
Santarsieri was selected from Manitoba after her performances in the Manitoba Futsal Provincial Championships and during a one-day invite-only identification camp held in Winnipeg on March 19, 2025.
Chris Lourenco, MSA Technical Lead, commented, “We are thrilled with Ella’s selection to the Women’s Futsal NT Camp. Futsal is a relatively new sport to the province, particularly on the women’s side, making Ella’s quality all the more impressive in such a young athlete. This is a powerful demonstration of her dedication and technical development. I have no doubt that Ella can pave the way for women in futsal in Manitoba and we look forward to following her progress at the international level.”
Héctor Vergara, MSA Executive Director, added, “We are pleased to see that the efforts of a Manitoba athlete have been recognized by the National Team. Hard work and dedication to the craft will always yield positive results and this is a credit to Ella’s commitment to being the best possible player. We wish her all the best as she continues on her path to represent Canada at the highest level. We are grateful to all those that have played a role in her development.”
