2025 Game. Set. Equity. Community Tennis Grants Application Process Opens, Tennis Canada and National Bank Set to Provide $100,000 in Funding

[MONTRÉAL, QC] February 13, 2025 – The Game. Set. Equity. Community Tennis Grants, presented by National Bank, has opened its application process for 2025, Tennis Canada announced on Thursday. The grants support Canadian organizations promoting equity and offering tennis initiatives or programs specifically for self-identifying women and girls. Since its inception in 2022, nearly $200,000 has already been distributed to 33 unique organizations across all provinces and two territories.

The Game. Set. Equity. Community Tennis Grants are entering its fourth cycle, demonstrating Tennis Canada and National Bank’s commitment to promote lasting change for women and girls in all areas of tennis, from high-performance, coaching, leadership, and beyond.

“We’re proud to support projects that encourage the participation of women and girls at all levels of tennis. This fourth cycle of the Game. Set. Equity. Community Tennis Grants program reaffirms our commitment to fostering the growth of leaders and role models for future generations,” said Terri Temelini, Director of Women and Girls Advancement at Tennis Canada. “This program is not only an opportunity for funding but also a way to strengthen communities across the country and open new doors for a more equitable future in our sport. We look forward to seeing the impact of these initiatives and celebrating the progress made in our sport.”

HOW TO APPLY

Details on how to apply for a 2025 grant are available here. Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria to be considered for the selection process, including the need for their program to focus on the participation, retention, or advancement of self-identifying women and girls and at least 70 percent of the funding must be directly allocated to women and girls.

This includes, but is not limited to initiatives such as:

  • Providing women and girls with more opportunities to become coaches, referees, or future leaders.
  • Increasing opportunities for women and girls to participate in programs, training, or competitions.
  • Supporting equity capacity-building through education and training.

The application process will close on Thursday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m. EST, therefore interested organizations are encouraged to submit applications in a timely manner.

Last July, Tennis Canada and National Bank announced the 21 initiatives that received grants through the 2024 application process. Spread across nine provinces and one territory, projects included a tennis initiative for women and girls who have recently arrived in Canada, a program for young girls with disabilities seeking to develop their skills in wheelchair tennis, and programming dedicated to women-identifying and two-spirited Aboriginal people aiming to develop as players and coaches.
