CALGARY, AB – November 30, 2024 – The World Dodgeball Federation (WDBF) is thrilled to announce the inaugural World Youth Open, taking place from February 18th to February 22nd, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. This groundbreaking event will welcome youth athletes aged 9 to 17, showcasing emerging talent from around the globe.
The World Youth Dodgeball Open will bring together clubs from across 11 nations: Canada, USA,
United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Egypt, and Uganda. By adopting a club-based format rather than strict national teams, the WDBF aims to foster greater inclusivity and provide more opportunities for young athletes to compete at an international level.
“The purpose of the World Youth Open is to create a high-performance international meet that will lay the foundations for an eventual World Youth Championships,” said WDBF President Duane Wysynski.
“This event will give young dodgeballers the opportunity to test their skills against peers from around the world and establish clear pathways for their development.”
This landmark event is proudly supported by Tourism Calgary and will be hosted in one of Canada’s most vibrant and picturesque cities. Nestled at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Calgary offers world-class amenities and easy access to stunning landscapes, including nearby Banff and Kananaskis. The city is located on the traditional territories of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot Confederacy), îyârhe Nakoda (Stoney Nakoda), and Tsuut’ina Nations.
