Team Ontario Announces 2025 Chef de Mission for Canada Summer Games in St. John’s

Team Ontario is pleased to announce Kirsten Bobbie as the Chef de Mission for the St. John’s 2025 Canada Summer Games.

Kirsten is no stranger to Team Ontario nor to the Canada Games. She has served as a member of the Team Ontario volunteer Mission Staff in both winter and summer editions of the Games and will now lead
the charge for the 2025 cycle as the Chef de Mission.

Kirsten is an experienced project, event, and multi-sport Games leader with a multitude of experience planning and delivering on objectives, leading large teams, and exceeding stakeholder expectations. She is passionate about the power of sport, fostering inclusive programming and culture, and all that sport and physical activity offers as a catalyst for social growth and change.

Kirsten is currently the Director of Sport and Competitions for Special Olympics Canada where she oversees strategic sport development relationships to enhance current quality sport offerings and creates new partnerships/pathways for athletes. She leads strategic planning and assists with execution of bi-annual National Games with host Games Organizing Committees. Kirsten oversees the strategic planning and assists with the implementation of Special Olympics Team Canada operations at Special Olympics World Games.

Kirsten has a wide range of experience in the Ontario sport sector, and she is primed to take advantage of this great opportunity to lead the next generation of Team Ontario athletes at the 2025 Canada Games.

The immediate focus for Kirsten is on building a high-functioning volunteer Mission Staff team that will provide the greatest level of support to Ontario’s competing teams, coaches, and managers.  

Kirsten will work closely with the Ministry of Sport to oversee the planning for the St. John’s 2025 Canada Summer Games in what will be a great experience for our Ontario athletes. Please join us in congratulating Kirsten.

Please note that the process to select the 2025 Team Ontario Mission Staff will be posted on the Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) website and Team Ontario social media accounts shortly.

About Team Ontario

Team Ontario comes together as a group of approximately 350-500+ athletes, coaches, managers, chaperones, support staff and Mission Staff from across the province to compete at the Canada Winter Games and the Canada Summer Games. The team is represented in all sports competing in the Games. The Canada Games are an important component of our sport system, and a key event in the development of Ontario’s young athletes. The Canada Games provide athletes with an opportunity to compete in a multi-sport atmosphere and prepare them as the next generation of international competitors. About the Canada Games

The Canada Games are a national multi-sport competition with participation from every province and territory in Canada. The Games are held every two years, alternating between winter and summer. The 2025 Canada Summer Games will be held August 8th to August 25th in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, bringing together approximately 5000 athletes, coaches, and managers from every province and territory to compete in 17 sports.
