Archery Canada Newsletter: May 2023

AIR QUALITY MODULEAs shoots and competitions move outside, one of the important things to consider is air quality. In this learning module, coaches, sport leaders and officials will learn how to protect sport participants from poor air quality. It’s not only lightning and heat that will affect the participant experience on the range.

There’s still time to register for the 2023 Canadian Outdoor Championships, so don’t worry! The 3D Outdoor Championships are taking place from August 4 to 7 in Cranbrook and then the Field and Outdoor Target Championships will happen in Victoria from August 8-9 and 9-12, respectively.
Note: there are some format changes in the 3D Outdoor Championships, so be sure to read up on them when you register!

We’re Hiring – Summer Program CoordinatorArchery Canada is looking to fill the role of Summer Programs Coordinator, a seasonal position based out of Cambridge at the Archery Canada Centre of Excellence. They will support the High Performance Director and Junior National Coach in the management of the Centre and implementation fo summer programs.

Nove Mesto Para-Archery European Cup

For the first para event of the year, five athletes attend the Para-Archery European Cup in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. The team and managers took time ahead of the competition to have a pre-event training camp, which prepared them more for the first day of competition. The team looks towards further events this year with the World Archery Para Championships coming up in July.

2024 World Field Championships Selection Addendum

The selection addendum for the 2024 World Field Championships is available on the Archery Canada website. This event will be hosted on home soil in Lac La Biche, Alberta, the site of the 2019 World Archery 3D Championships.

Archery Canada relies heavily on our volunteers to help run programs and events and the National Championships are no exception! Outdoor Mailmatch Coordinator

We’re looking for a new volunteer Coordinator for our Outdoor Mailmatch competition. The person in this role will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the Outdoor Mailmatch, in collaboration with Archery Canada. Key responsibilities include creating and distributing club score sheets, publishing the final list of participants and results, and address issues within the event.

Call for Expressions of Interest for Candidates for AC Board of Directors

Archery Canada’s Board of Directors has four openings for nomination this year: President, two Directors-at-Large, and the Athlete Director. If you’re interested in being part of the group whose primary objectives are to establish the strategic direction for the organization, develop/approve policies/procedures, ensure AC’s financial health, oversee operations, and more as required.
The elections will occur at the AC’s Annual General Meeting (held virtually) on August 22, 2023 at 7:30 pm ET.

Annual Comp-Dev Coaching Course

The Archery Canada Coaching Committee will hold annually, in October or November each year, a Competition Development VIRTUAL training course, open to coaches nationally. To participate in the course, there are some modules that candidates must complete prior to complete.
