William Émard Wins Bronze in All-Around at Rhine-Ruhr 2025: A Monumental Moment for Canadian Gymnastics

Ottawa, ON (July 25, 2025) – With strength, elegance, and determination, William Émard delivered the performance of a lifetime at the 2025 FISU World University Games, earning the bronze medal in the Men’s All-Around competition—a historic and emotional achievement for the young Quebec native and a major milestone for Canadian men’s gymnastics.

Competing against a world-class field that included Japan’s gymnastics superstars Daiki Hashimoto and Shohei Kawakami, Émard held his own and proved that he belongs on the global stage. In a tightly contested final, he showcased exceptional poise and consistency, finishing with a total score of 81.732 to land on the podium.

“After some amazing results for the team in the last couple of years, it is nice to have a stellar performance individually,” said Émard. “This one felt personal, and I really did put the energy in the gym to be as competitive as possible for this event and Worlds. It feels like I’m back.”

William Émard turned in a stunning all‑around performance at the 2025 FISU World University Games, finishing third overall with a total of 81.732. His final comprised six rotations, each building on the previous: he opened on floor with a solid 13.600, followed by a good showing on pommel horse scoring 12.566. Émard truly seized the competition on rings, where a standout 14.200—the highest score of the entire field—propelled him up the leaderboard.

He continued with a confident vault of 13.833, then delivered a crisp 13.900 on parallel bars (slightly under his qualification mark), and closed with a beautifully executed high bar routine earning 13.333. That well‑rounded display ultimately secured him the bronze medal, a remarkable achievement.

Representing the Université du Québec à Montréal and closely coached by Adrian Balan of Laval Excellence, Émard continues to inspire a new generation of Canadian gymnasts with his passion, work ethic, and humility.

Strong Showing for Chronopoulos in All-Around Final

Ioannis Chronopoulos (University of Nebraska) and coached by John Robinson, also delivered a strong all-around performance. Despite an unfortunate fall on his rings dismount, which cost him a potential top-10 finish, Chronopoulos demonstrated his strength across all six events and proved he is a true all-around contender. He finished 11th overall with a score of 77.899, showing grit, resilience, and exceptional talent.
