U18 Men’s National Team wins game 1 at the 2023 WBSC American Pan American Championship

Sincelejo, Colombia – The U18 Canadian Men’s National Team opened the 2023 WBSC Americas Pan American Championship with a 4-0 win against host Colombia Monday night in seven innings.
 
Cohen Christner (New Hamburg, Ont.) got the start in the circle for Canada, striking out 16 batters to go on to pitch a perfect game. Christner surrendered zero hits and zero runs over seven innings, while walking zero.
 
Team Canada opened the scoring in the second inning after Nolan Bultena (Arthur, Ont.) singled, scoring two runs. Camden Weatherbee (Brookfield, N.S.) homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh for the Canadians. 
 
Christner led Canada with two hits in four at bats. Weatherbee went one-for-four at the plate as the second baseman led the team with two runs batted in. 
 
Adrian Green (Carbonear, N.L.) led Team Canada with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up eight walks in the game. 
 
The Canadians were dominant and didn’t commit a single error to earn their first win of the tournament.
 
Team Canada returns to the diamond on Tuesday to take on Venezuela at 5:00pm COT (6:00pm EDT). All games will be live streamed here.
