Two Days Until World Cup Play Begins

Prince Albert, Sask. – The Canadian Men’s National Team has arrived in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, ready to compete in the 2025 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup Finals. Running from July 8 to 13, the tournament will bring together eight of the world’s top teams, all vying for the sport’s highest honour: the title of World Champion.

The Opening Round is divided into two groups. Team Canada (No.4) will compete in Group A alongside Argentina (No.1), New Zealand (No.8), and Venezuela (No.5). Group B features Australia (No.2), the Dominican Republic (No.11), Japan (No.3), and the United States (No.6), all battling for a spot in the Super Round.

Leading into Prince Albert, Team Canada gained valuable international experience at the Super 8 Men’s International 4 Nations Cup in Saskatoon, where they faced off against Japan, New Zealand, and the United States, finishing undefeated and named 4 Nations Cup Champions.

Canada has made 17 appearances at the Men’s Softball World Cup, capturing gold on four occasions (1972, 1976, 1992, and 2015). After earning silver at the 2022 World Cup, the team is determined to return to the top of the podium.
