OTTAWA, ON (April 10, 2025) – Eight of the country’s top skaters across four disciplines will represent Canada at the 2025 ISU World Team Trophy in Tokyo, Japan from April 17-20, 2025.
The event, which will mark the last competition of the 2024-2025 figure skating season, is reserved for the top six nations who compete in a team format with points awarded based on skaters’ placement. Canada will be joined by France, Italy, Georgia, Japan and the United States in the competition.
Team Canada will be led by two-time ice dance world silver medalists and 2025 ISU Four Continents champions Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, who will look for a fifth international podium this season. They will be joined by 2024 pair world champions Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps, who are coming off a fifth-place finish at the 2025 ISU World Figure Skating Championships.
The women’s event will feature national champion Madeline Schizas, who earned a career-best 11th-place finish at the world championships last month. She will be joined in the women’s event by national silver medalist and 2024 Tallinn Trophy bronze medalist Sara-Maude Dupuis. After obtaining a season’s best score at the world championships, Canadian champion Roman Sadovsky will take the ice in the men’s event. He will skate alongside Aleksa Rakic who impressed with a seventh-place finish at the 2024 Skate Canada International.
The competition starts on Thursday, April 17 with the rhythm dance and the men’s and women’s short programs. Friday will feature the pair short program, the free dance, and the men’s free program. Competition ends on Saturday, April 19, with the pair and women’s free programs. The Gala Exhibition will take place on Sunday, April 20th.
