Three Directors Elected and One Athlete Director Confirmed to Equestrian Canada Board

Ottawa, ON, May 28, 2025 – The Equestrian Canada (EC) Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the results of the Board of Directors election and the three (3) Directors and one (1) Athlete Director who were named to the Board at the Annual General Meeting on May 27, 2025.

The three (3) candidates elected are (listed in alphabetical order):

Stephanie Leblond/Quebec City, QC/Elected for a three (3) year term
Nathan Reeve/Coquitlam, BC/Elected for a three (3) year term
Nick Sutcliffe/Hockley Valley, ON/Elected for a three (3) year term

The Athlete Director confirmed is:

Mac Cone/King City, ON/Confirmed for a three (3) year term

Candidates Stephanie Leblond and Nick Sutcliffe are joining the EC Board for the first time. Candidate Nathan Reeve was an incumbent on the election ballot for 2025. They will join the following Directors to round out the 2025-2026 EC Board:

Marion Cunningham, West Vancouver, BC
Audrey-Julie Dallaire, Verdun, QC
Andrea Hayward, Delta, BC
Gilles Levasseur, Ottawa, ON
Lisa Robertson, Regina, SK
Todd Walsh, St. Albert, AB

During the call for candidates, a total of thirteen (13) qualified applications were received by the close of the nomination period. Following an in-depth review process of all candidates, the EC Nominating Committee put forward four (4) candidates to the ballot.

The Athlete Director Appointment Committee (ADAC) is comprised of the athletes’ representatives who have been elected by the National Team Athletes in the three (3) Olympic disciplines and one (1) Paralympic discipline. This committee is enacted only in the years that a new Athlete Director is appointed. The ADAC seek out candidates and then vote for the candidate that will come forward to the AGM for election by the voting members.

The ADAC for 2025 was comprised of:

  • Tiffany Foster, Show Jumping (Chair)
  • Denielle Gallagher, Dressage
  • Shandiss MacDonald, Eventing
  • Jody Schloss, Para Dressage
  • Lauren Barwick, Para Dressage

The ADAC and the Nominating Committee had approved the following individual as the Athlete Director candidate to the ballot for election at the 2025 AGM:

  • Mac Cone – King City, ON

The EC Category Voting Members cast their ballots on the day of the AGM, May 27, 2025.
There were three (3) Director positions to be filled for 2025 and one (1) Athlete Director position to be confirmed.

The EC Nominating Committee members are responsible for:

  • Presenting a slate of candidates for the position of EC Board Directors in accordance with EC’s Bylaws.
  • Ensuring there is an election each year.
  • Ensuring EC has a rigorous nomination system.
  • Recruiting qualified individuals as Directors.
