The Winner of the PGA of Québec Championship Lifts the Trophy After Three Rounds of Overtime

[Grand-Mère, September 4, 2025] There was no shortage of action on Thursday during the second and final round of the prestigious PGA of Québec Championship, presented by Videotron Business. On a day marked by a spectacular comeback and a very close ranking, four golfers, tied at the top of the leaderboard with a cumulative score of 140, battled it out in a playoff.

Trailing by six strokes at the start of the final day of competition, William Blanchard (Rosemère-Fontainebleau Golf Club) played imperiously on the greens, carding a 67 (-6) to climb back into first place.

Christopher Vandette (Beaconsfield Golf Club), who led after the first round, shot a 73 (+3) to finish tied with Blanchard, as did Billy Houle (Joliette Golf Club) and Martin Plante (Le Balmoral Golf Club), who both carded 71s (+1) to conclude the event.

After three hotly contested playoff holes, Christopher Vandette ultimately prevailed over William Blanchard. Christopher earned his first victory on the PGA of Québec Tour, and if you ask his peers, it won’t be his last!

In the senior division, Martin Plante clinched the title ahead of Marc Hurtubise (Parcours du Vieux Village) and Ben Boudreau (Parcours du Cerf), who finished the tournament at +5 (145).

Plante and Houle also tied for honors in the “Pro” division, while Blanchard and Vandette did the same in the “Assistants” division. Finally, Sylvie Schetagne (Golf-Tonus PTMT) took the women’s title with a cumulative score of +10 (150).

“We had an explosive round today! The level of play was extremely high, and the suspense remained until the very end. Witnessing such fierce competition is everything we could hope for in an event of this magnitude. It’s a superb reflection of the talent we have in our ranks,” commented Éric Couture, Executive Director of the PGA of Québec.

A unique spectacle for fans!

The 49 professionals gathered at the Grand-Mère Golf Club for this edition of the PGA of Québec Championship put on a spectacular show for spectators, who turned out in large numbers once again on Thursday.

The heated battles for the various rankings in the competition quickly increased the pressure on the course, where every shot was of paramount importance.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better scenario for this tournament. The Club welcomed us with professionalism and the fans were there to cheer on the players throughout both rounds. The level of play displayed by our professionals was simply impressive. The intensity was palpable from the first hole to the last,” said Justin Daoust-Guay, Senior Coordinator of Communications and Member Services for the PGA of Québec.
