Earlier this year, we released a new resource for coaches called She Belongs: Building Social Connection for Lasting Participation in Sport. When we were thinking about what we needed to add to our resource library, we wanted to develop practical guidance focused on one factor that would make a significant difference in keeping more girls engaged – and we found that social connection was key.
Intentionally crafting a positive team culture that fosters a sense of belonging is integral to the retention of girls in sport and physical activity, now more than ever.
When we come together to play, move, and compete again, gender equity can help us come back stronger. What environment will you build for your participants, staff, and coaches during this time? What values will you act on as you build and strengthen your team or organizational culture?
This month, we’re focusing on resources you can use to help you connect, inspire, and move forward even in times of uncertainty. We’re staying optimistic and grounded in our belief that when we’re brave enough to question the way we’ve always done things, we can uncover new opportunities
