Volleyball Canada – August 27, 2019: Volleyball Canada is ready to send its 2019 Youth Women’s team to Slovenia, Dras Training Centre, in preparation for the U18 World Championships. The U18 World Championship will be held in Cairo and Ismailia, Egypt, from September 5-14, 2019.
Canada is in Pool B along with USA, Italy, Korea, and Mexico.
Athletes were selected following a selection camp in May and have been training throughout the summer prior to centralized training in Niagara, Ontario, this past weekend.
Canada qualified for World Championships at the NORCECA Continental Qualifier last August in Honduras with a dramatic five-set win over Cuba.
“The athletes representing Canada is a statement about the depth of athletes in Canada who are on the high performance pathway. Exposing this group to international competition early in their careers will have long term benefits both for athlete development and our national team programs,” said Dawna Sales, Director of Athlete Pathways for Volleyball Canada.
