Team Canada shuts out Peru at the 2025 WBSC Americas U23 Men’s Pan American Championship

La Pampa, Argentina – The Quick Story: 

Team Canada earned their second win at the 2025 WBSC Americas U23 Men’s Pan American Championship with an 11-0 run-rule victory over Peru in four innings. An eight-run fourth inning broke the game wide open for Canada and helped them secure the shutout win. Brad Barker and Nathan Running were dominant in the circle, holding Peru scoreless. Brad Barker gave up just two hits and struck out five batters over the first three innings, while Nathan Running closed it out with a hitless fourth inning, striking out three.

Key Moment: 

Canada’s offense came alive in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs. Ryan Maher started the rally with a single and later scored on an RBI double by Alex McGillivray. Nick White followed with a sacrifice fly, bringing Alex McGillivray home. Mason McKay’s single drove in Ryan Bicknell, and Max Major added a two-run hit to extend Team Canada’s lead. The inning was capped off by a three-run home run from Matt Weiler, pushing the score to 11-0.

Notes: 

  • Matt Weiler went 1-for-1, hitting a three-run home run in the fourth inning.
  • Alex McGillivray went 2-for-3 with a single and a double, driving in a run and scoring once.
  • Ryan Bicknell went 2-for-2 with two singles, scoring one run.

Team Canada returns to action tomorrow, September 16th, facing Argentina at 7:30 pm AST / 6:30 pm EDT.
